ABOUT ME

My name is Michael Beck and I am the Amateur Historian at the oldest historical society in Somerset County, NJ (founded in 1882).

My current research interests include the critical role New Jersey played in the Revolutionary War with a view to increasing our profile and that of other organizations in Central New Jersey.

I am also interested in promoting the preservation of historical artifacts as the key to distinguishing fact from fiction. This interest stems from a desire to understand why those that came before us approached challenges in specific ways, and what that teaches us in how best to address future ones.
